SAMPLE ITINERARY

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport:

We will meet you at the airport for transfer to your hotel. Depending on the arrival time of your flight, we may have time to explore town and some of the bustling markets before getting a good night’s rest after your long trip.

Olerai Lodge is set amidst an acacia grove against the backdrop of the stunning Mount Meru. The name “olerai” comes from the word “acacia” in the local Maa language. Here, visitors can begin their safari adventures immediately after check-in. Monkeys, porcupines, honey badgers, and a lot of stunning birds all call this area home.

Explore Tarangire National Park:

Starting from Arusha, enjoy an early drive to Tarangire, renowned for its vast elephant herds—some with up to 300 members—and majestic baobab trees. This park boasts one of Africa’s most diverse ecosystems, home to impalas, elands, buffaloes, giraffes, and rare species like gerenuk and fringe-eared Oryx. Spot predators like leopards, lions, hyenas, and cheetahs roaming freely, and marvel at over 545 bird species, including the vibrant yellow-collared lovebirds.

After lunch, visit the Datoga tribe, renowned for their exquisite jewelry making and crafts, enriching your understanding of the region’s cultural heritage.

Unwind at The Plantation Lodge, situated on scenic red-brown hills. Northern Serengeti:

Strategically positioned between the Central Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara near the Mara River in the Kogatende Area, the Mara Mara Tented Lodge offers a front-row seat to the Great Migration. Experience the vast, rolling savannahs and rich biodiversity of this remote wildlife sanctuary from June to November.

Accommodations: The lodge features 20 luxurious tents and 4 bungalows, all with en suite facilities, divided into two camps for personalized experiences. Each unit blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, providing comfort amidst the wilderness.

Travel to Arusha:

This will be a long day of driving from the Serengeti back to Arusha. Guest may also opt to take a flight back to Arusha depending on preferences and time.

Once back in Arusha, you will be thrilled to walk into the lush green oasis that is Rivertrees. Looking out toward Mt. Kilimanjaro, the inn is a charming country estate that was once an old coffee farm, and still retains the nostalgic air of a well-loved homestead. Sprawling ten acres of fertile greenery, the grounds are a natural extension of Mt. Meru’s sloping foothills and offer a sanctuary for the birds and wildlife indigenous to the area. Elegantly rustic cottages are dotted along the river and in thickets of tall trees, while lush lawns and birdsong make for a peaceful and picturesque setting.
